I'll be in the LA area in mid-July... hoping to catch a couple tapings then.

Each contestant that isn't playing that game guesses what amount is in their case, if they get it right they win $500. A bunch of other international variants have this rule as well. For example, on the original Dutch version the bounty is $1,000 to $26,000, depending on how many cases are left in play.

It sounds like the Russian Roulette bonus round on steroids. I really like the sound of this, actually. And it's not another Millionaire-style money ladder cookie cutter show, which gets brownie points from me.

I don't mind if it's a "replica" prize as long as it looks realistic. There's no fun in watching a placard that says "CAR" fall off a building.

Predictions:
OGAPS will go to either Cash Cab or Jeopardy. I don't think Fifth Grader is up to Emmy material just yet, but give it a year or two. I wouldn't be suprised to see it happen (assuming it lasts longer than DOND... remember how it got much better reviews than the primetime version, yet it burned out miserably in the second season?) in a season or two.

I hope the Outstanding Game Host goes to Wayne as well. I'm mildly suprised Carnie got the nomination, but I'm also happy for her and GSN as well. I don't really get their obsession with Ben Bailey, he's a perfectly compentent host, but he's not anything really outstanding, IMHO.

This reminds me of this downloadable game for the Wii, "TV Show King". It's basically just a simple game where you click on the correct answer faster than your opponents, but occasionally with some gimmicks like the answers being hidden under a scratch-off ticket, or needing to be "revealed" with a flashlight. After each round, you get the option to spin a wheel that could give you more money, lose money, double your score, etc. (It also has "switch your money with another player's", so you could answer every question correctly during the game and still lose at the last minute.) On the other hand, the questions are stupidly easy, as in "Millionaire First 5 Questions" easy. I kinda ended up wishing I had spent the $10 on the Family Feud game instead.

Macgruber, part 3 was just awesome.

"ARE YOU OUT OF YOUR ______ MIND?!?!?!?"

And even though it didn't feature Betty, Really? with Seth and Amy was pretty good too.

"Really? How is there not a backup system? When I delete a photo from Facebook, it asks me 'Are you sure?'. So how come one guy can accidently make a billion-dollar transaction and a manager doesn't have to approve it, but whenever I pay with a $50 at Starbucks it becomes a four-man operation?! Really!"

Only if Will Ferrell comes back to host again. Then they'd need to bring Darrell Hammond back on board as well.

I remember that episode... and a quick jaunt to the J-Archive brings up: Reach for the top, High Rollers, Pitfall, The Wizard of Odds, "Double" Dare, and My Life in Game Shows.

True. I didn't take that into account when I was watching the show... but still, do they get the nametags in line or at the studio?
