I live in the area, and everyone is pretty torn up about this. Even those of us who didn't know them personally have enough of a connection to them for this to be really, genuinely horrible and real. The connections may be loose...the young man volunteered for the same organization that I volunteer for. They (like me, and many others in the area) were NCSU and UNC grads. Just about everyone I know has either lived in that apartment complex as a grad student or knows someone that has (parking is so bad that the parking spot motive is very plausible). Friends who taught at Athens Drive. All loose connections, but enough for this to hit home hard. I think part of the reason that I'm so upset is that the couple got married young, before they were all the way through grad school, and just looking at them reminds me of my husband and me. So, so young and so in love that we didnt want to wait until Christmas break to get married, let alone grad school graduation. All three of them were so young, and so bright, and cared so much about others. This is awful.
I live in Durham and was wondering wth he was being held at the Durham County Jail until I remembered that yes, part of CH is in Durham County. Thanks for providing a virtual map of the area...things are close, but not as close as some of the news outlets make it seem.
FTR, he has been moved to Central Prison out of concern for his safety.
I did not know the victims personally, but I am really having a hard time with this. I think the whole community is.
Except for HuffPo I like ALL of the groups he did. Also am an atheist. Somehow I have avoided murdering people this far, but I have nearly gotten into a fistfight over a parking space, so look out---I may be a ticking time bomb.
IIRC, Borderlands has a cafe attached to the store, so even $6 almond milk lattes aren't going to save them from the scourge of providing a (barely) living wage. Honestly, every time I've walked past it (on my way to Ritual, not taking a chance on a coffee shop tacked onto a bookstore to try to make it a going concern), I've wondered how much longer a specialty bookstore could possibly last anywhere. And I say this as someone who has spent a fair amount of time and money in stores that only sell cookbooks.

Basically, his whole philosophy boils down to "yer not my mom!". Speaking of which, you never hear about his mother. Of course, he's such a turd that I wouldn't be shocked to find out that he sprung, fully formed, from his dad's asshole.

If her kid really did get sick, that's a fine reason to not get vaxxed. That's who herd immunity is for. Being afraid of imaginary consequences from getting shots is criminal. Or should be, anyway.
Maybe Mama Duggar was less concerned with her catching a case of the sluts and more concerned with the fact that if she actually saw the reality of childbirth she'd decide get a case of the nope, not interested in going through that, not even to raise an army for Jesus. It is so unsexxxy and frankly pretty gross. So many fluids (and solids, God).
