Some people you just look at and can suppose would become amongst the first to be rounded up by the totalitarian regimes they pray for. I know that it isn't fair to judge, based upon appearances, but I do envision "her" running to my house, as the first or second Little Pig, trying to find afety with the people she does not understand.

Naw, I'd'a guessed that. To know Selma Hayek is to know why she would deonounce any decent person, or even Dame Edna. Hayek is as reflexively and outspokenly left wing as anybody in Hollywood, which helps her stay employed.

Well, having seen the comments about altruism and/or charity, versus redistribution, I suppose it's a matter of perspective. My perspective was from the next day and the day after that. Where, then would the other two pigs go? I envision the third pig having to put them up, indefinitely until, exasperated, he boots them out. Then they go right back to their old pattern and build from straw and sticks. When people knowingly slack off in expectation of "charity", that becomes redistribution.

Actually, even without the perspective she offers, the fairy tale is fundamentally a leftist dream of redistribution. The two pigs that goofed off and built inferior homes moved in with the pig in the brick house, once theirs were blown down.

I've read or heard somewhere that the version of the story we are familiar with has already been fundamentally altered from the original by the Brothers Grimm. Supposedly, in the original , the first two pigs are eaten by the wolf, but this lesson was eliminated from the translations crafted for 20th Century consumption.

@ Mike, or others.

This is something that bothers me, though I know it didn't originate from here:

"When people refer to the "1967 lines" they're always talking about the post-war armistice lines. "

What people? Who means this when that inadequate phrase is employed?

Thanks.

Rep.McClintock, here's one for you to PLEASE consider: http://www.greencar.com/articles/can-convert-natu...

There is an insane process in place that now prevents Americans from converting gasoline cars over to natural gas. It used to be a simple and cheap conversion, and still is, elsewhere in the world. We sit atop vast reserves of natural gas, but cannot run our vehicles on it, solely because of EPA (and CARB, in CA) regulation. Even licensed mechanics cannot convert vehicles for us, as the licensing and certification process amounts to over $200,000 for a single, specific, engine, from a single, specific model year. As such, what used to be a $200 conversion, now costs $12,000 to $20,000, per vehicle.

The process is set up such that only government and big business can afford to convert vehicles, by converting fleets. EPA justifies their position because they consider conversions to be tampering with emmission control systems, even though natural gas burns far more cleanly than gasoline. If ever there were a costly and unnecessary regulation, this is the poster child!

You wanna talk confused? I was at a kids soccer game this morning, here in my rural, southern, American hometown, at the YMCA.. That's YMCA, as in Young Men's Christian Association. It was the end of the season, so there was a party and awards celebration after the match, inside in "Classroom #1". And there was art from kids on the clasroom walls that included posters made about voting, along with flags made by kids. Including this one:

What's terribly ironic is that kids in American schools get in BIG trouble for even Drawing an image of a weapon, such as a knife or gun. But a sword is just fine, apparently. At the ymCa.

I have no use for the author of the editorial, but I believe two separate phrases are being conflated, here. Porch monkey is accurately defined, but the phrase "get back on the porch," or "stay on the porch" is a separate phrase that uses the word porch. It is used to describe someone that is inferior in whatever capacity is being discussed. The complete phrase is, "If you can't run with the big dogs, you need to stay on the porch." It has no racial context and is said by whites and blacks alike, to whites and blacks alike.

I would, personally, assert a caveat to that, though. Any Cuban exile, or descendant of a Cuban exile that ever registered as a Democrat, that ever actively empowered the Castro dictatorship by supporting leftists in America, would be precluded from any form of restitution. Not precluded by Americans, but precluded by those, in Cuba, that had to live that much longer under a murderous, dictatorial regime, due to their own personal actions.

Or maybe that's just my opinion.
