One could form a national Conservative party, similar to the one they have in NY state which for many years tried to steer Republicans more to the right. The Republican Party for years has been was the republicans have become under Bush. It was only Reagan that made the GOP conservative. Pataki (GOP governor) was in there for 12 years, and wasn't any great conservative----but they all said --oh well he's better than the Dem that running.
Number 1 it will most likely be a woman--and that Sotomayor woman kills two birds with one stone. She's Hispanic and a woman. Even if the choice is a liberal, I really believe that a Supreme Court justice should have extensive judicial experience---having served at the federal District Court level at least---preferably at Circuit Court level. I would wish that the Senate would limit themselves to a person's character rather than their views when vetting. But then one has to worry about false accusatiuons. We saw what Bork when through as did Alito and Roberts to bring it more up to date. Luckily with Thomas, the accusations didn't stick, but I am sure that man went through immense pain at his reputation being trampled on.
I don't really think that swine flu will become a pandemic here. You might get a couple of dozen more cases, but being hospitals and the people are aware of what is happening, it's not going to be a pandemic. Just that emergency rooms will be vastly crazier than they are already.
I won't go as far as saying that Obama is a Muslim, but he certainly sounds like he is strangely over sympathetic to Islam---now it that just wooly headed liberalism that still sings Kumbaya, or is it something else?
Shea. Radical gay activists just don't want to fight for the right to marry. They are out to silence anyone who is critical of the gay lifestyle. Now most of us who view ourselves as reasonable could say that gays folks could or should have some kind of legal recognition of their partnerships, even if one isn't down with homosexuality per se due to religious viewpoint. But the radicals are out for total censorship of any criticism. Will it get to the point if I criticize something Rosie O'Donnell says (even if it has nothing to do with homosexuality) will I be brought up on charges of bigotry because she is a lesbian? Maybe that's a stretch, but that is the general direction these folks want to go.
Parker, wow! I am definitely blown away. But the wording doesn'y seem to bar people who are attorneys from holding office. It is more prohibitive of the reception of gift from foreign powers or entities. Now what current politician hasn't accepted these kinds of gifts---from the president on down! That's where the disqualification would come in.
They want to tax the shkin off us. Will there be a tax penalty for farting?
Man, the government is not your friend. It is doing lots and lots ---not in our best interest.
I hope more info comes down the pike on that one. I will save my spare change to go on that MILLION TAXPAYER MARCH!
Gay people, as a group should be very Libertarian. Statistically, they have more expendible income than most straight married folks, because a large majority do not have kids. They should want Uncle Sam out of their face for the same reasons as the rest of us.
