In the pictures we have of her, she is indeed holding the sword in her left hand. I'm almost positive she will be training this way as well. Just shows the willingness of this production to get the details right.
With everyone frothing at the mouth over the new clues I took a gander at Mr. Hill's videos on his website- and WOW. From clips of him as a woman to a grungy stalker to a proper turn of the century gentleman I have to say once again absolutely inspired casting. I know hindsight is 20/20 but if we had stumbled upon him before we would have been touting him all the way.
It is a little funny. All I can say is I love this man's face! The softness and darker than impish wickedness I think of with Varys are both so present.
Since the Dany stuff is obviously being reshot I was thinking maybe Momoa. Although besides the obvious Conan I don't see much on his IMDB schedule.
Brude- I saw your reply on "latest comments" but they haven't shown up here yet, and your right. I don't know what I was thinking besides really trying to stretch a bit.
This is a nice breaking news item right after the holiday weekend. Since another commentator has mentioned we use the word "perfect" too much around here, I will say he is EXTREMELY close to how I pictured Sam, and am glad a theater student got such a big break.
I looked at her after we "got" the actress and immediately thought Ygritte. The post says 2 seasons, not what two seasons. There are other signs they are mapping out more than just the first season- I bet they even shoot some items simultaneously ala Jackson and LOTR. I also have to say this being an adaptation, we have to be more open on when and how characters enter and leave the story and the prominence they play. I have watched True Blood, haven't read the books but have been told by friends of the type of changes that we should be considering. Having Ygritte enter early would not be unheard of.
I loved that teaser and am also signing up for the HBO newsletter, but I would like to take this opportunity to comment on the HBO blog sites, our precious WiC and others-
While this series of books is much beloved by us, there are plenty of people (my friend who I begged to put the cell phone up to the TV during the teaser included) that know nothing about what its all about. I think posting one or two words that spoil parts of the books, even those revealed in the first few chapters of Game of Thrones is irresponsible and mean. This is the time we must all begin to be conscious of using those spoiler alerts and warning others who may land on this site or the HBO blog. Nothing but good can come out of not ruining the anticipation for the series or for those who will now seek out the books. Just my humble opinion.
With that hair, I immediately think of a Tully. Maybe a flashback (Lysa/Catlyn/ Peter) segment? She could totally pass for a younger Michelle Fairley, IMO.
I think if you couple the above interview with Esme's teasing it's just another step up in the long winding staircase towards a pick up. (Hi, long time no see.)
