Lord, that's such poor logic. Anyone can rent box seats at a football game for $5000 or more, that doesn't make it a sport for rich spectators. Every sport has an expensive VIP section for criminy sake.

My entire post was substantive (i.e., firmly based in reality) - Everything Boulder does is "paid for" by taxpayers. That is such a ridiculous go-to.

Also, every event in Boulder has "externalities" and those on Open Space are allowed by permit all the time. I myself have applied, and received them. This particular event is mostly on pavement and hardened surfaces anyway. The shoulders along Flagstaff are hardly sensitive areas. That's reality.

And the deflection continues ... Stating something over and over doesn't imply it's true, though it may have the effect of some thinking it must be. That is not what I see going on here.

A single statement was made and appears to be directed at a particular individual with the implication likely being, "you haven't been paying attention."

P.S. So as to get back on track, I'm not buying the claims, either. At least not without some supporting evidence

His point is well taken and, no, it wasn't that he cares.

Don't know your financial situation, but watching a bike race is far from an event for the rich, let alone "hoity-toity." Maybe you are thinking of polo or fox hunting (they use horses, not bikes).

Obviously all the city does for the community costs money. Hell, I don't use the rec centers, libraries, soccer fields, run the Boulder Bolder, or participate in most of the activities paid in part by the city, but you don't see me, or most anyone else, continually harping on each and every event written up here.

As for "stop whining" being rude, please, honesty can be a harsh mistress. To make the complaint once is to express one's opinion, but to repeat it over and over ad nauseam, and for every city sponsored activity, is whining plain and simple

Then go write your elected representatives and let us enjoy this opportunity for Boulder and the positive national attention it brings, not to mention tourism dollars.

Besides, the statements to support your opinion are just hyperbole. Bottom line, I ride bikes all over Boulder and the roads aren't falling apart, potholes get fixed, etc.
