Grillsargeant, remember. Ball crushing distance. The Denver Vice cop has trouble sleeping at night, particularly since he has two daughters. He showed us a picture of a guy talking to a young girl for "consensual sex" in Thailand. Her four year old daughter was clinging to her arm. The man was negotiating for sex with the four year old. He got it, by the way. Everything is legal there. Just like prostitution, which is legal in Holland, has seen an influx of sex slaves from the Russian states. They think they're coming for jobs, and then they get to Amsterdam and are drugged, raped, and end up in a window like the one above. It's all consensual though. Just keep telling yourself that. The Vice cop I listened to wants to catch people like you and rjcylon and make sure you don't have "consensual sex" with drugged out, abused women. He wants to handcuff you, throw you in prison, and put your picture on a "Johns" list so everyone knows your filthy, shameful behavior. You both make me sick.

Whenever I see a sex slave like that poor girl in the window, I have an almost overwhelming desire to go to the gun range. Libertarians want to legalize prostitution, which will remove the last legal barriers against sex slavery. We already have a huge sex trafficking problem in every country as well as America. It is rampant in Holland. Oh, I hear the libertarians squeal (behind a cloud of pot smoke) that sex slavery isn't legal and legalizing prostitution will help stop it. Of course not, morons. Girls who are trafficked are usually drugged out of their minds (oh, there's that drug legalization problem again) and once they're raped sufficiently and hooked on enough drugs, they don't know how to free themselves. I just sat through a sex trafficking seminar given by a Denver vice cop. He doesn't want drugs or prostitution legalized because that will deny him the only tools he has to get pimps off the street, and get girls out of this horror. Oh, and any man who says prostitution is just fine and/or admits they visited a prostitute better not do it within ball crushing range of me. That is all.

Wow, that's a great idea. Come to a site where intelligent people watch television and movies, and post a throwaway comment that proves you did not watch the show you are commenting about. Or perhaps you were impaired in some way? If you've had too many beers to follow a show, take a hint and don't post about it. In "El Diablo", one of the cleverest Burn Notice scripts I've seen, Michael Weston creates a kind of devil character. In order to convince hardened criminals and gang members that he is more scary than they are, he does an elaborate setup where when he snaps his fingers, Sam Axe and Fiona set off explosives that they've carefully placed for maximum effect. It was a delicious con and in the end when Weston walks way and his "devil" face relaxes into a grin, you just have to laugh. What a great episode!

Great essay. I love the way you put your ideas together and the way you tell stories, Ms. Jackson. We've all heard the gun arguments but this was fresh and original. And the Johnny Carson clip was adorable! My kids just earned their hunter safety certificates and we'll be shooting at the Gun Club in the youth program this summer. The best gun lock to protect our kids is education and understanding.

Thanks for the excellent review, John. I read the original novel by Dennis Lehane and "the big reveal" was insulting in a way I just couldn't pin down. Eventually I realized that I felt the same way when I saw Aliens 3, where in the first twenty minutes two beloved characters are killed and thrown away like they are inconsequential trash (Hicks and Newt.) When a storyteller brings you into a character and makes their personal journey become your journey, to turn around and show you that the journey was meaningless and your emotional investment was worthless is a betrayal. I'm trying to tie this to liberalism but I really can't; I think it is athiesm at it's most evil, an attempt to convince us in this fallen world that life is empty. Life is too beautiful and rich and mysterious and gorgeous -- and difficult -- to let storytellers like this waste my time.

Great essay, Mr. Baldwin. Another tactic of the Alinsky left is to make our children in schools dwell on civil rights and slavery for months on end in history and literature classes. My son was asked to write a poem on a picture of a Klan rally. He was supposed to write his thoughts about racism in a poem. This is what he wrote: I don’t want to write this poem It’s a thing of our past I don’t want to look at those pictures. Nobody I know is racist. Racism is like a litter box no one wants to clean. Racists are old pictures in a photo album that no one wants to look at. I don’t want to write this poem. This is a dark spot in our past. Everyone is over it Nobody wants to be racist. This isn’t something anyone wants to put their nose into any more. The books you make us read scream hate at us I don’t want to hate No one wants to hate. I want to go out and play with my friends We can be like Will Smith in “Independence Day.” We can play as anyone because we’re not racist. Racism is old and dead I’m done with racism like I’m done with this poem. Now let me go out and play.

Thank you, Dr. Fontova. I was reading a National Geographic a few years ago and noticed an article on Cuba. I had read about the prostitution and sex slavery that goes on in Cuba. In the magazine there was a heartbreaking picture of a young girl dressed up in a gown, standing on a street, obviously being prostituted. Her face was so sad. "Girls in Cuba enjoy dressing up and promenading down the boulevards," the National Geographic article gushed. "Enjoying the evening air with their families." I put down the magazine that moment and I have never picked up another. National Geographic is evil. Evil.
