Well while many of the Wegher "fans" won't want to hear it, the redshirt option is still available for Brandon. Despite how well Adam and Brandon have played I believe Jewel would have easily won the starting job. It depends on how much Adam and Brandon improve, whether or not Jewel can come back in top form, and who buried on the depth chart will improve. Not to mention this Coker kid from Maryland seems to be putting up some eye catching numbers. I have only been seriously following Iowa football for the last 4-5 years but this has to be the most depth at RB for a while. Seems like the last couple of years KF had to scramble to offer somebody just to get a RB recruit. Things are looking better now.

I think Wegher is still in "just don't screw up" mode. He doesn't look like he play with complete abandon, while Robinson seems a little more comfortable. Perhaps the difference between a true and a redshirt freshman.

I wonder if Gimm, being a former TE, could be a receiving threat the way Morse has become. I like the way they are using Morse as a receiver and as a runner.

I've always felt DJK was too inconsistent. He could be amazing, and then he could totally disappear for a game or two. We have lacked game after game consistency at WR since Hinkel and Soloman graduated. I am hopeful a healthy Stross and/or McNutt can provide that this year. From my perspective that is what DJK lacks.

Paul-Excellent point! I am sure the staff is pointing out that no other RB coach in the country can boast such a record. :)

Honestly Coker's clips are a little underwhelming. He is big, strong, seems to find holes well but seems rather slow. I don't know if his speed just doesn't translate on film or what. Scout has him listed as a 4.5 40 time so it may be he is faster than what it appears.

I agree with you on all accounts. I do see to many message board posters talking about how Iowa needs to recruit more speedy Florida guys as if a 4.5 in Florida is faster than a 4.5 here in the Midwest.

Anybody here have any idea as to why Jeff Brinson seems to have fallen off the radar? KF didn't mention him among the RB's doing well (just Paki and ARob). I think most of us had, perhaps foolishly, already pegged him in as at least a solid No. 2 and more than a few thought he would end the season as the No.1. Now it seems he isn't even talked about.

I'm fairly certain the play your were refering to (Prater saving a TD) came on 4th down of a goal line stand near the end of the Iowa State game. It was an impressive play from a true freshman. Barring further injuries, I think the second corner spot will be solid by whomever wins the job. I think where Bernstine's injury really hurts is in the nickel and dime packages.
