Hi Misanthrope, This article was not written in correction of anything. One was written in advance of the city council meeting as a preview, the other followed up on that meeting.

Hi Trishia, As best as I understand, the additional space would be used to expand their grocery offerings, but I don't believe it would be a full sized supermarket. A "Super Wal-Mart" is typically around 150,000 sq feet and can include things like a bakery, full sized supermarket, tire and auto center and often times has a fast food resturant and/or bank and optical center attached. I believed the closest one to Hood River is in Gresham, but I may be mistaken. There was a proposal for such a Wal-Mart on Country Club a while back, but it was nixed.

Hi Betty, Thanks for your reading. Just so you aware the proposed expansion would not be a Super WalMart (There was once a Super WalMart proposal which was proposed on Country Club Rd., but that was a separate issue) This would be a standard WalMart, only bigger.

Hi Misanthrope. What I believe was meant in the editorial is that Cascade Locks could be used as a magnet school within the Corbett School district, meaning that if Corbett school was full, kids wanting to get into the Corbett district could go to Cascade Locks from the Gresham/Portland area, which would be about 45 minutes.

Thanks for reading, Yetiaxe. The full quote from Julie's original story on Mr. Lloyd (who was recently arrested yet again) was: "Most homeless individuals are simply looking for a warm bed and a good meal until a new job comes along to turn things around. That profile, however, did not seem to fit Paul Lawayne Loyd, 47, on Nov. 3."

Hood River News : Letters to the Editor for Sept. 7, 2011

Alice, Understood. I should have been more clear about which date needed correcting. Perhaps I should have used ulterior motive to begin with rather than conspiracy. I was simply trying to demonstrate that there was no favoratism or bias toward either side in this issue, but that it was a simple mistake.

Hood River News : Letters to the Editor for Sept. 7, 2011

Alice, Conspiracy (the act of conspiring): a : to join in a secret agreement to do an unlawful or wrongful act or an act which becomes unlawful as a result of the secret agreement <accused of conspiring to overthrow the government> b : scheme 2: to act in harmony toward a common end <circumstances conspired to defeat his efforts> (Via Merriam-Webster) http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/conspir... I was informing you there was no conspiracy or any other ulterior motive, and that what you saw was the result of an honest mistake. I corrected said mistake within minutes of you bringing it my attention. If you go back to our letters to the editor section, and click on the link for September 3 Letters to the Editor (the one for which I accidently published the Sept. 7 file) you will notice they have been changed to reflect the actual Sept. 3 letters. To reference your final point: Shortly, in this case, meant a matter of minutes. Thanks for reading.

Alice, there is no conspiracy. In fact if you look, you will find that all of the letters are the same, because I am an idiot and published the wrong file for Sept. 3 when I put them on them web. I'll be fixing that shortly.

Hood River News : Cascade Locks Fire conundrum continues as volunteers call for chief\'s removal

Hi Cody, I just went back and checked the comment logs. I have comment submitted by you at 5:40 p.m. Wednesday on the permitting irregularities story, another at 5:42 p.m. Wednesday on the same story, your comment on this story at 12:02 last night, and your follow up to that comment on this story at 12:47 a.m. So not only was your comment not removed from this site, I have no record of it ever being submitted. Are you sure you are not thinking of a comment on the KATU story? If it had a whole bunch of links in it, the software may have automatically rejected it as spam, but it would not have appeared on the site. If you would like to submit it, I'll take a look to make sure it meets our guidelines. So just to be clear, your comment has not been censored.

Not sure what you are talking about Cody. I posted every comment I saw from you yesterday. Are you sure you have the right article? We don't censor points of view, we just do not post comments that violate our posting policy. As far as I could tell none of your comments yesterday did that. So I posted all of them.
