I'm defending him because the context of each situation he found himself in was ignored by the MSM because they need to cut every story down to a headline to grab audiences. "Producers" does not refer to Gibson. He is one of many producers at Icon that produced "Braveheart" and "Apocalypto." And no one is defending him because he isn't Polanski, it is just a blatant example of the bias in the media. Also, "Plan Your Getaway" just comes with a certain B- movie action tone that was celebrated in the 90s. And clearly some things are said in a general sense (like the Moore/ Polanski comment). But, also, this film is not completely seperated from what is the traditional Hollywood system: Vincent Gallo is a pretty decently known actor and Jack Nicholson has been praising this as the best film of the year. But, clearly, Hollywood was being used as a generic term in order to capture the current mentality of today's filmakers. We inhabit a literary world of Twilight, Harry Potter, Rapp, Ryan, etc. Sure, some of these novels give us some notion of the complexities of violence and the political landscape and just plain human flaws, but other writers don't dwell there.
