I agree, especially the GITMO boys. We are going to "hold" the detainees from China because the Chinese will kill them if we send them back.....so what! They were training to kill American Legal Citizens!

Bottom line, taxation is supposed to be for the common defense, secure freedom and ensure liberty!! Charity is to support those that, through no fault of there own (mental incapacity or physical incapacity), need a helping hand. I want the choice; I don't need an agenda ridden government taking from me to give to others that are perfectly capable of self support. To paraphrase, Ben Franklin commented that we should fight poverty by making it uncomfortable. To me that means "not enable" it. Multicultural is an excuse. For those that come here legally and work hard, I'll be the first to support their success. For those who come here illegally and want to be a drain our country, fundamentally change our country or cause harm to our citizens, go home you are not welcome and I will be the first to escort you out.

True. No one promised it would last forever. But the framework to give it a chance to be everlasting was written in the Constitution and within the core beliefs of our Founding Fathers. The fact that we have moved away from both is what is truly scary!

While fictitious, the Left Behind series provides an "entertaining" view of the Book of Revelation. It does not make you a nut case to have core beliefs that are Biblically founded.

Conservative Patriot? Perhaps you should review the definition of Libertarian. I too was a Conservative Republican but have moved away from the Republican Party. Based on my research, I would classify myself as a Libertarian.

The unfortunate side of our political system is that there are many great leaders out there, but who among us would like our families attacked, ridiculed or slandered by a corrupt political machine and it’s lapdog media. Who among us is so untainted by some indiscretion of youth that we could pass muster. Many intelligent, God fearing true leaders born in the sensibilities of our Forefathers do not have the means, connections or “pedigree” to fight our corrupt two party system. However, our influence does not have to be that of a national celebrity. As Glenn says, step up, influence your neighbor, your block, your town and next thing you know you will influence your country!!

As most have noted, keeping the officials honest is the way, but is also very tough. For example, I contininue to show my displeasure by continuing to email both my Senators. One is a Dem and one is a Rep. For clarification, I am a Libertarian and believe very much in the Constitution. The main problem is, the Dem is one of the co-sponsors for the Employee Free Choice Act an is not listening to any of the people I have teamed with to email him to death. As a side note, my Rep Senator is the one saying the AIG execs should "give the money back or commit suicide." Those of us that are informed will know to whom I refer and from which state I comment. It truly seems they are not listening to their contituents at all. I get form responses and the more personal responses I've received have typically talked around the specific issues disputed to tow the party line. It getting quite rediculous. However, in the words of Benjamin Franklin, "“Energy and persistence conquer all things.” This effort sparked by Glenn is awesome and we do need to become the local leaders of the fight!
