"Well, the Brits will be training with their F-35C carrier model Joint Strike Fighters"

Huh? When did this happen? I thought they were buying the B model.

The British solution (also used by other Euro nations too):

Designated Marsksmen: .308

Snipers: .338LM

whereas we start at 5.56 for the DMs.

Or, they could put a good muzzle brake on the rifle....the Armalite AR-30 in .300WM with a brake derived from the .338LM version's brake is supposed to be a pussycat.....indeed, the manual cautions against using without the brake.

No, Ryan, a .338 Lapua rifle would not be THAT much heavier....after all, the Remington 700 action can be made in .338; the only weight difference is in the longer/heavier barrel needed for the larger caliber....not much of a difference at all in terms of mass, but a hell of a jump in performance.
