Nathan, I think these are good points and the distinction is important, so I'm going to leave the comments if that's okay with you.
Product reviews will add content to your product pages most of the time. There are some systems where a person has to be logged in to see them, those are useless in my opinion. But the ones that show the reviews to everyone are a good thing to have on-site.
This rating system is more of a trust builder than a user content builder :)
Hey James, that is an annoying issue. But I look at it from an on-site conversion aspect more than anything else. I can share all other content centered around the store through FB - blog posts, videos, promotions, etc - so I'm okay with not be able to share actual store pages. I'm instead liking how customers come to the site and see a bunch of positive ratings and instantly trust the site and get more excited about ordering. I think whatever is more important to your business should win out in this situation. I still get more traffic from organic search than social networks, so it doesn't worry me as much.
I agree Sandy, I'm very excited about this too. It's a great way to boost and build at the same time.

I agree Scott. Seems like they almost want people leaving to send SPAM complaints. I'm not suggesting they hide that button, but why does it need to be the center of attention?
Hahaha Phuong, right? It's not possible to "accidentally" subscribe with a double opt-in list so I just don't get it. But whatever, I know I'm not a spammer and the majority of my group does too so that's good enough.
