You know, you are probably right about that. Since I stopped being Christian, which has been a few years now, I really stopped paying attention to that kind of thing. Atheists were only beginning to become vocal a few years before I left the faith, and at the time, I brushed them off as a few fringe elements. However, I have to admit, they (we) have become a force to be contended with and sometimes, (most of the time) we can be brash and insulting. But its not only the atheists doing the attacking. That's why I believe its mostly political. Yeah, people are afraid to attack Muslims, insulting the Jews is considered antisemitic, a definite taboo, so that does leave the Christians to be the whipping boy. I suppose everyone has their time. Thanks for an interesting exchange of ideas.

Then you have your Bill O'Rielly and Glen Beck constantly calling us stupid and a threat to this country. You don't think that makes us crazy? We have the same rights, we contribute the same to this country, and we raise our children to be good law abiding citizens like anyone else. Where do they get off saying those kinds of things? But what are we going to do about it? Complain amongst ourselves a little bit and get over it; that's what we do.

Other than that, as far as atheists go, I have to say you got me, there. I don't have any links, and I don't have any examples of Hollywood going off on us. I'm only speaking from personal experience. The ones that have made fun of muslims such as the South Park guys, however, or the facebook gal that suggested 'draw mohammed day, did get death threats. And don't forget Salmon Rushdie who had to hide for years because of a novel he wrote that offended muslims and that dutch director (forget his name) that was killed because of something he made offending them.

Yeah, so muslims are pretty much left alone because they fight back with a big stick and Hollywood definitely leaves us alone, probably because they're democrats and so are a lot of atheists. Who knows. I imagine Hollywood might go off on Christians not because of their belief, but because of their politics, especially their stand on homosexuality. That separation of church and state thing seems to get conveniently forgotten about when that subject comes up.

But yeah, it's not nice to verbally abuse or poke fun at anyone. But, honestly, its really not worth getting all hot and bothered about. Life goes on.

I'm not sure I follow you. People make fun of muslims and atheists all the time. People say awful things about atheists. I have never had to put up with any crap when I was a christian and when I was a christian, I sill had a sense of humor. I haven't seen this movie, so I can't really comment on the type of humor that is in it, but in general, people have gotten overly sensitive lately. Muslims are made fun of all the time, some of them take it in stride and some of them kill you. Because of the extreme ones, we all must walk on tiptoes? True, Christians take it more because they tend to look the other way, but what's wrong with taking it in stride and moving on? Should we all be striking back because we got our feelings bruised? Maybe if someone doesn't like a particular brand of humor, just pass on it and don't make a federal case of it. All I keep hearing from christians is about how they're being persecuted now. For crying out loud, they are still the majority and maybe they're getting cranky because they're losing that particular status.

Didn't you get the memo? They do that because they love you. You don't want to accidentally belong to a group that god (and conveniently some christians) hates , do you? You've been given fair warning to change your beliefs and sexual preferences well ahead of judgement day. Don't say no one told you, now.

I don't care, as long as its funny. People need to lighten up. I'm a little sick of the entitlement Christians seem to think they have that they cannot be offended or made fun of. Muslims, too, for that matter. . Everyone gets made fun of for something, be it their politics, their nationality, their accent, etc. etc. People really need to lighten up. If you're annoying, admit it and laugh at yourself. We all annoy somebody, don't we? I bet someone is well annoyed at this post, especially believers in sky daddies and "virgin" births....wink wink. Going back and reading all the comments and I can't believe the people here that seem to know what Ricky is about...."he's angry, he's searching, he's a closet believer".....you know nothing. All you seem to think you know is what you want to believe. But that is a rather popular stance for people who make up an entity, give it a personality, give it credit for morals formed by man over thousands of years, and claim to know what it thinks, what it likes, and what hurts its feelings. Seriously people, do you really believe there is an entity that both created the entire universe and still cares what you do with your genitals?
