I was disappointed to see that TEA Party leader Rep. Michele Bachman has family members that can be considered "freeloaders". Thanks for the info, John....great show tonight!

That's total BS, Underzog. The Constitution does NOT allow the fedgov to give our tax $ to other nations. PERIOD. Foreign aid is blatantly inconstitutional. If giving $ to the gov't of Israel (or any other nation) is that important to you, then write a check for whatever amount you think is necessary. Besides, WE'RE BROKE! Out national debt has passed the $14 trillion mark & continues to rise that I thype this message. Sure, Israel is a friend our ours, & personally I love & pray for her & her People. But don't force me, or any other taxpayer, to send their $ (or the $ we have borrowed from China, to be honest) to other nations.

Big Government : Golden State: Everybody Must Get Stoned

On Thursday, I saw Shep Smith on FOX whining about NYC not allowing ppl to smoke cigs in Central Park anymore. While I don't like that idea either, they had better be thankful that tobacco smokers don't (yet) face the same criminal penalties that we pot smokers do. IF marijuana is going to remain illegal, then I think it would be consistent to have the same laws written for tobacco. Start confiscating the cars & property of tobacco addicts. Have the State welfare offices take their children away from them...after all, 2nd hand tobacco smoke is a danger to their healthm is it not? Drug test tobacco users & fire THEM from their jobs. Give them long prison terms for owning, say, larhe amounts (i.e., one carton or more). Sound ridiculous? It definitely IS, noi doubt. But then again, so is criminalizing the mere posession of marijuana by adults. Ppl these days yell, "SOMKER'S RIGHTS!!!! This is fascism!"....well how about TOKER'S RIGHTS????????

Damn right. I was addicted to nicotine for 20 yrs, & when I quit in Jan 2003 I went thru 4 & 1/2 months of absolute, pure HELL in order to kick the habit & become a non-smoker. I even quit smoking pot during that time, & wasn't even interested in looking for it. Going w/o marijuana didn't bother me one bit, & in fact, I was worried that smoking pot again would cause me to severely crave nicotine like it did when I was a tobacco addict. Come to find out that fear was unfounded. I don't crave nicotine when smoking pot! WOO HOOOOOOOOOOOO! I don't know how it affects other quitters, 'cuz everyone is different. But in my case, I'm not looking back.

SFWarrior, lay off the insults & don't judge someone until you know the facts. There's no need to impersonate the Left when you disagree w/ someone else's opinion. Those of us on the Right, whether we enjoy smoking marijuana or not, need to start showing a lil more class, talk to ea other like ADULTS, & quit giving the liberal MSM excuses to attack us or revel in our hypocrisy.

"If you want to lock yourself up in your basement and puff until your brain rots, fine. Just do not come out in public and endanger us." That sounds VERY reasonable to me, I will gladly accept that. AAMOF, there are 5 basic principles of responsible marijuana use that I follow & that I hope everyone else will, too: http://norml.org/index.cfm?Group_ID=3417 Let me know what you think about these.
Actually, marijuana & other prohibitions aren't conservative....they are PROGRESSIVE. It was the PROGRESSIVES that started writing anti-drug laws in the beginning of the 20th century -- don't forget the fact that they were pro-abortion & pro-euphanasia, too. Glenn Beck mentions their being the ones who ratified the 18th Amendment, which made alcohol illegal; but, for some strange reason that only he knows, he refuses to mention the fact alcohol wasn't the only drug that the Progressives criminalized: they wrote the Food & Drug Act of 1906, the Harrison Narcotics Act (also in 1906???), & FDR's Marihuana Tax Act in 1937. All Progressive creations! I think it's safe to say that most of these laws were written due to racial hatred. Asians used opium, & have done so for thousands of yrs. They brought it w/ them to the US when they immigrated here. Blacks & Hispanics in the South used marijuana, & the Hispanics may have brought it w/ them when they immigrated from Latin America. That just wasn't acceptable to the Progressives, who criminalized alcohol in 1919.

Neither did CA. All CA did was prohibit employers from firing someone just for testing potisive for having pot in their system IF they are already using it for medical reasons: "A state lawmaker this week introduced a bill that would prohibit employers from firing qualified medical marijuana users who consume pot when they're not on the job. The bill, proposed by Democratic state Sen. Mark Leno, also would make it illegal for employers not to hire someone solely because they use marijuana for medical reasons." I reject the idea that people will be allowed to go to work stoned or that the law was written for that purpose.

Thank you for bringing in a lil sanity to what seems to be a pro-Drug War/anti-individual liberty crowd. People who call themselves "conservative" & SAY they don't believe in big government need to accept the fact that marijuana WILL be made legal again one day, maybe in one State in 2012, but surely somewhere over the next 10 yrs. It just isn't the conservative thing to do when you arrest people for doing something that doesn't harm anyone else, especially when the Constitution doesn't give the feds the power to enforce such laws. I DON'T CARE what the States do. Let UT & AL give the death penalty for posession of a single pot seed if the People so desire. Let CA or MA completely re-legalize marijuana if they are willing to reap the unintended consequences of doing so. State's rights, a firm reliance upon Divine Providence & LIMITED government are what makes America the successful nation that it has become!

"...firing workers who come to work stoned." Are you talking about actually showing up to work under the influence, or simply referring to testing positive for marijuana in a drug test? There is a HUGE difference betw the 2. I understand & agree w/ the former not being allowed in the workplace: coming ro work high isn't a responsible way of using marijuana. But I find the latter disgraceful. Marijuana remains in your body fat for up to 6 WEEKS, long after the pleasurable effects of marijuana are gone. Whether any of us like it or not, the People of CA excercised their 9th Amendment right to use marijuana for medical purposes in 1996. The 10th Amendment leaves the ability to make this decision w/ the STATES or the PEOPLE. My fellow conservatives should learn to be CONSISTENT when they say they respect the rights of the States & bitterly fight the unconstitutional power grabs by the federal gov't.
