Well, it has certainly evolved into a class of arrogant career politicians, many of whom either don't understand or willfully disregard the tenants set forth in our constitution. The fact that their yearly pay raises are automatic unless voted down is shrewd and should raise a hue and cry, especially during these trying times. What I'd like to know is what additional perquisites they receive. I would like to see a list of congressional perks and what those perks actually cost us. Anybody know? Also their fat retirement packages are outrageous, especially while the administration and congress seem to be going after the perks and retirements of others in PRIVATE INDUSTRY. I would also like to consider a National Sales Tax in lieu of the current unfair income tax. I am afraid with a flat tax, 40 to 50% of the populace would be exempted from paying which is deplorable and encourages nonpayers to vote for the candidate who promises all things to everyone. Also would like to consider repealing pensions from Congress because it would probably result in self-imposed term limits.
