The National Education Association(NEA) is always lumped in with the big labor unions. Their interest in which people get elected, has to be understood. Almost everything that a teacher does in his/her job is affected by elected officials-National, State , and Local
I was involved with the political arm of our local and state associations (retired in 2003). We had to form Political Action Committees(PAC's) to do our politicking in. TEACHER'S DUES WERE NOT ALLOWED TO BE USED IN POLITICAL ENDEVOURS. We formed PACs to raise money for our political work. Teachers could volunarily donate money to the PAC. The Pac also held many activities and events from which they could raise political money. Always up front and out there. I don't remember if it was a national law, state law or local law that dues could not be used in political activities and there were alot of PAC's around.

"The government can’t tell you what kind of car to purchase, how can it tell you what kind of health care is acceptable?"

Think about it. 3 years ago you would have said this about health care. "The government can't tell me whether to buy or what kind of insurance to get." Well they have!

Don't think they can tell you what car to buy? Dont forget that the governments "owns" 2 major car companies.
The government has put big money into creating the Volt and could easily become the required car purchase. We must stay vigilant.

America has awoke! They are telling the progressives that this is supposed to be a "Government of the people, by the people, and for the people in stead of government of Obama, by Obama, and for Obama"!!

I think the American voters have made their point, both in the primary season and last night. They want honest representatives(and not career) and less government. What part of that don't the Democrats and REPUBLICANS get???

I am so tired of us bowing to Islamic (or terrorist) threats. We need to stand up to them. Yes, building a mosque near ground zero is constitutionally legal. Building the mosque does not show any consideration by Islamic developers, yet we are expected to be sensitive to them. If we continue this habit of tolerance, it won't be long before we all are bowing 5 times a day facing east.

I, too, read BG the first thing in the morning with my coffee. One thing I noticed is that news stories on BG are reported first. When I hear the TV networks(even Fox) cover them, its one or two days later. Thanks for what you guys do!

I am retired, but I can afford to send $50 for a good cause. I can understand incompetance, but I will not tolerate arrogance from elected officials especially if they pick on veterans. My father was a veteran of WW II and a career officer. He was a Commander of both the local and state organizations of the Disable American Veterans(DAV) in our state. I still donate regularly to the DAV.
