We need to reeducate the federal government that the states control this country. After the election, when more states fall under republican control, the stae legislatures should hold a convention to propose an amendment to the constitution to repeal Obamacare. Nothing fancy, just basically "Amend. 28: Obamacare is repealed" (like the amendment repealing prohibition). States then ratify it and by next summer Obamacare is erased. The president, congress and courts would be powerless to stop it. It would be a constitutional smackdown of the liberal agenda and a grand reassertion of federalism.

Think of it this way: if either congress or the states (in a convention to propose amendments) propose amendments, they still have to be ratified by 3/4 of the states. So under the runaway convention myth, the fear is that the convention is held and they go crazy and draft an amendments defining marriage as between any two or more life forms, thus allowing men to marry sheep. And then 3/4 of the states ratify the amendment, and now your worst fear is realized. But if the states are willing to ratify such an amendment, surely they would call the convention themselves and not wait to do it only after it was called for for a conservative amendment.

Respectfully, you (and Levin) are completely wrong. Under Article V, if the states call for a convention to propose amendments, the convention would consist of people selected by the state legislatures. The state legislatures would choose individuals who would carry out there will, which would be to propose amendment(s) along the lines of the original application to Congress. The amendments would still have to be ratified by 3/4 of the states.
The article V state-led amendment process is the most powerful tool the states have. The "runaway convention" myth destroys that power.

BZ, my original post was to point out the hypocrisy of Husker's reasoning (Husker stated "I have faith in the American people. Obviously, you do not"). Assuming Husker is on the left, my assumption is that Husker is fine with removing decisions from the American people and putting them in the hands of judges he agrees with. Mentioning Roe was a pithy way of expressing this.

As to your last comment, it seems to follow the liberal playbook:
Step 1: Build absurd strawman (Show me someone who believes that every possible choice has to be decided by a law).
Step 2: Leap from strawman to assign unreasonable position to other party (accuse me of believing that laws I don't agree with are illegitimate).
Step 3: Pretend you have a rebuttal by alluding to it without actually presenting it (I could challenge...).

Back to the original question (I'll explain it some more): Roe decided that existing laws passed by elected representatives are no longer enforceable. Thus Roe overturned the will of the people. BZ, do you support reversing Roe and returning abortion to the political arena?

I bet you thought that was clever. Every law ever written encompasses "having people decide for others." Unless you are an anarchist, you are a hypocrite.

You are asking Senators to propose an amendment that will get them all replaced. KohnK144 is right, but it should be referred to as a "Convention to propose Amendments" as it is called in Article V.

So I take it your for reversing Roe v. Wade and letting the people decide?

The states have all the protection they need; they just don't have the will. Under article V they can amend the constitution without the approval of Congress. Control the constitution, control the Federal government. Personally, I think we should first repeal Obamacare (Amendment 28: Obamacare is repealed), get people used to the idea of the states controlling the federal goverment, then go after the 17th.

Repeal Repeal Repeal Repeal. Obama and the liberals are a joke. The states need to stop them in their tracks. The states control the constitution, and, if they have the will, they can use it to control Obama and congress. The states should get together and draft a simple constitutional amendment that (like the repeal of prohibition) basically reads "Obamacare is repealed." The federal government must be put in its place - that of a servant to the people, not a master/doctor. it's all at www.constitutionalrepeal.com
