If this dad does not sit down with her daughter and help her deal with the consequences of her actions then you can justifiably call him cruel and arrive at all the conclusion you have already arrived. As it is. YOU DO NOT KNOW THAT, I DO NOT KNOW THAT and for you to arrive to conclusions, judge and condemn is WRONG and ARROGANT.

1-"I wouldn't have taken it so personally"... that is your choice and I respect that, but that doesn't mean that everyone has to think/act like you.

4-The rest of your post is what YOU would have done to correct her... which I respect, but would never impose it on others at the risk of sounding tyrannical, puritanical, etc.

I, on the other hand believe that Dad wanted to make a lasting impression on her daughter. The whole thing is wrapped in a harmless video and posted in facebook as a public correction. The video could have been funnier, more dramatic (blowing up the pc with fireworks), double-barrel shotgun, etc... You see, to me in that video I see a Dad that worries about her daughter; Is smart enough to worry about what she writes in public behind his back... and is able to find out about it; worries about how to correct her so that she understand the gravity of her actions and he tried a little "shock therapy" to get her to understand how important she is to him. I feel sorry for those whose parents let them do everything and didn't care in the name of "respecting their privacy" and ended up trying drugs, addicted to pornography, pregnant, raped, etc. To me (if you care what I think) this dad is a role-model.

Constructive criticism goes a lot farther than just saying "I think... he is extreme"... you are just trowing stones.

My dad always said... publicly you humiliate your mother, father or brothers/sister, publicly you will be corrected... kudos to the dad.

The "it-is-my-right" mentality is destroying every moral value in society (and changing the culture on its path) by immature and infantile BRATS... ok you wanted marriage's definition to be changed... you got it, you got married and now (IN 4 years)... FOUR... "I don't wanna play no more"????... yea she will say 18 years living together... but THAT MEANS NOTHING... YOUR VOW lasted 4... count them 1.2.3 and 4 years... the fact is that GBLT and nowadays a lot of young hetero couples as well have NO CLUE of what marriage is all about. For them, it is a right of passage, something people do, like lemmings, and UNTIL THEY MATURE, they will never be able to understand the marriage institution as defined by judeo-christian values.... and unless they grow up and mature they will dismiss it as a utopia... well thank you for devaluing even further what it once was. I do pray that they have the courage to mature and hopefully realize why they WILL NEVER be able to attain what in essence is a Christian Marriage, that can only be attained between male and female, because without the reproductive ingredient all you have is a make-believe, a Hollywood, a plastic, role-playing relationship based on "feelings"/"complexes" rather than the best way for a child to be brought up in this world.
