The chase scene in "Connection" was his finest performance. Popeye Doyle will forever be the toughest cop on screen. I like Dirty Harry, but Doyle didn't give a sh*t what people thought.

Hackman was great as Luthor. I liked the transmission he sent to Clark via ultrasonic frequency ("you're the only one on two legs that can hear this, Superman!")

His uncredited role as the hermit in Young Frankenstein was hilarious! "No! Fire is good! Fire is good!"
