His rescuers, however, saw fit to use him as a guinea pig - he was trained to feed himself and he was set free at the age of 20. He never met his own pod and never joined the other pods he came into contact with. Given the opportunity, he quickly forgot his training to feed himself and sought out the food and company of the only species he had known for the majority of his life - humans. He died of pneumonia 5 years after his release, alone. The habitat provided to these orcas by Sea World IS the appropriate habitat for them.
