I see where you're coming from for a good part of your post, however, being "acquitted" only certifies a person "not guilty" as far as the criminal law is concerned - technically, that the State did not prove their case. That does not mean one did not actually commit the crime. It just means you covered your @ss well enough to prevent the evidence that would convict you from coming to light.

I can't help but think that Jefferson quote stands in stark opposition (much like 62% of Americans, according to the polls) to this "healthcare" debacle.

I don't want my children singing the praises of any elected leader. We sing songs of the union, the institutions in it - not leaders who come and go. Ah, you beat me to the punch, Naqamel! Yes! Jesus told us to take care of the "widows and orphans", the "poor", the "least of these". That is a choice we must all make for ourselves - to do so or not. For the government to mandate "charity" and physically take your money to pass around, they remove all sense of charity out of the act.
