Yes, this scares me too. But I go to a school with a more conservative student body and can attest we have our share of morons as well. The ignorance is generational, not partisan.

Believe it or not, the most racist/classist people I've ever met are a group of liberal lesbian and gays at my school. They bash on my hometown as being "ghetto", and I'm constantly having to explain over and over again that most of my neighborhood is suburban and really pretty boring.

And while they love to go to all of these "cultural" events to get some photo op time and make it look like the gay community is trying to reach out to minorities, you can't help but notice that nearly all of there personal friends they talk to on a daily basis are white. Gee, I wonder why this diversity they boast about has never made it into their personal lives?

I completely agree! I am afraid that even while opportunity opens up to minorities, they will never enjoy the success whites had in this country because they keep voting away their freedoms to big government. Sad state of affairs.

And working with the politicians you have the non profit organizations that get paid to address racial issues. If I had a cushy, feel-good job managing a nonprofit I would probably be creating racial issues left and right to make sure donors keep sending in those checks. Nice way to create job security.

My prediction is that Republicans (and I am speaking as a Republican) will shoot themselves in the foot and Obama will win reelection. While you're right that America is probably center right, it is not EXTREMELY right. Most of the mouth pieces for the GOP are EXTREMELY right wing and put off most mainstream Americans. McCain lost it because he chose an EXTREME right winger for his VP pick and because he lacked the "coolness" to match up with Obama- being a weak sauce moderate had little to do with his defeat.

Here's the truth: when Republicans refer to the president as "Barrack HUSSEIN Obama, wildly accuse him of being a Kenyan and Muslim, make claims that all blacks are criminals(which many people actually DID imply during the Gates-Crowley aftermath- just look at the comments on Crowder's blog)- many Americans witnessing this behavior feel they've been transported to a 1930s Nazi Rally. People are deathly AFRAID of today's Republican party and will probably do whatever they can to see they don't gain power.

Meanwhile the average Republican/conservative doesn't realize they are off putting. And quite frankly, they probably don't care. But the key to the Democrat's success is they at least do a good job of PRETENDING to listen. Which is why they've got at least another four years of power.

Polls are nice, but there's some things voters should not get to decide, and I think marital issues is one of them. If a church want to marry a same sex couple, I don't get to vote on whether this is valid in accordance to my PERSONAL religious beliefs. And to be consistent, I also don't think I should get a say in polygamy either.

I do draw the line at forcing churches to marry same-sex couples. But in a country that still allows whites only/mens only clubs, I strongly doubt that we have anything to worry about. If it's this frickin' hard for gays to gain legal recognition for their marriages(I mean, how long have they been trying with little success?), I'm guessing it would take centuries to legally force a church to marry a same sex couple.

I wish conservatives would wake up to the second way government robs us blind: enacting ridiculous laws that don't make us anymore safer and bankrupting those found "guilty" of these ridiculous laws. I know it looks good to be for apple pie and men in uniform, but when are we going to address the second barrier to productive citizenship- an over punitive legal system.

I'm a conservative as well. But really, all I'm reading from your post is: Blacks are likely to commit crime, so they should be treated with extra suspicion. Way to lump people in groups the same way the liberals do.
