Buying American is no guarantee of wholesomeness, just a better chance that there will be less contamination depending on FDA inspection schedules.
"Reading" the label before you buy is more important. If the label (as many made in China dog treats say) says to wash and sanitize your hands after handling the treats--"there is something WRONG with the treats."

I can't believe they were banned over "non-nutritive"objects embedded in the middle of the (hollow!) egg. There's lots of food in the US that isn't nutritive--starting with pink slime and meat glue. All FDA approved, of course.
