I won't pretend to know all the facts in the case, but I can tell you that due to all the State funding cuts, DSHS and other organizations meant to prevent this type of thing are spread way thin to police everybody. To make matters worse, they are also limited in many cases in what they can do due to privacy rules, laws etc. These scumbags have way more rights then you would think! It's still tragic and should be scrutinized to see what they can do in the future to prevent this type of thing from happening again. The lady they spoke with was from Colorado and umemployed she mentioned how she and her also unemployed boyfriend moved her "due to better resources". With the governors proposed cuts, the real cuts will come in the way of state jobs. The freeloaders will still get theirs because there will be fewer people to monitor them and require they participate in job programs, provide documentation, etc. It's completely backwards!! I actually went through the AAA Agency in Federal Way since I'm a member. They apparently have relationships with MOE, Progressive, and others and as a service will shop the rate for you. Despite their findings DSHS workers are told their job is to provide customer service and let the authorities handle the rest! I know of multiple cases where DSHS workers are accused of racism and the case is taken to fair hearning. This is where some Liberal advocate decides to pick the case apart looking for some clerical error to have the benefits re-issued. Very similiar to what lawyers do in court to get cases thrown out. I hear DSHS case workers getting bashed all the time and yet most people don't know just how tied their hands are. If we truly want to see change, it has to come from the legislature. I think this initiative is a step in the right direction and will gladly sign it.
