Caveat emptor or is it empty? I know my blog is a source of information, and I know that even if I am using an alias, somehow, someway it gets traced back to the live, flesh & blood entity; the corporate all caps trustee. And like the global warming issue, we are well past the tipping point on this one, too. Sigh. yer pal

Deludia : Sibling Rivalry

On a winter school break, I was invited to join my father at his retreat on St. Thomas island in the Virgin Islands. This particular trip was memorable because I went snorkeling and came home with a beautiful conch shell, complete with tenant. The natives have a way to remove the creature, but I didn't know that trick, except someone told me I could leave it outside in the sun and the animal would crawl out of the shell. No, they do not do that. They die before than can even ponder escape. And the stench from a dead conch has to be much worse than that of a bucketful of crabs. How do I know? I had hidden the shell so no one would steal it - ahahahahahahahah - and the hotel lost dozens of paying customers due to the stench arising near the elevator and arising up to all the rooms. Why did I leave it there? I didn't want to stink up my father's house, now did I? One week later it was still a horrible dead smell and I ended up leaving the shell behind because as my father said, "No one would believe you if you said you just had shells in your suitcase from the smell of it." I wonder if it's still there.... yer pal.

I wonder if we are too late... and I know that I have been living simply, more consciously for quite awhile, but the mega-millionaires who can have whatever they want, whenever they want it, they don't change their lifestyles... and won't... for the impoverished, there is no escape, just more of the same - just harder. I want to believe, and hope, but I wonder... yer pal

I proposed exactly the same kind of military training to the Colombian leadership last year when they were dealing with roads falling off the mountains from excessive rain... no one answered me.
I've never wanted to be a Rutabaga... a carrot, spring peas with tiny little green dots inside, or even a nice Russet Potato, but Rutabagas have a bad rap in my neighborhood. First of all, I don't like the taste of them, so why would I ever want to emulate one? And secondly, they are NOT stylish... you can put carrots in a maple syrup glaze and lie them out like piles of freshly-split wood next to slices of ham and everyone will gaze fondly at the ensemble and comment favorably... but rutabagas? What can you do with them to bring them up from the low life they inhabit? No.... I'll take that as an insult if you call me "Rutabaga!" yer pal

Deludia : Rude Imentary

Up my what? (LOL) And I don't happen to disagree... even if you did end your sentence without a noun. Not only is the social media changing the social rules, willy nilly, it is also changing the laws. Just recently there was a case of rape which was recorded and distributed by various 'dudes' on the internet. The two guys who were actively involved in the rape were prosecuted and convicted and sent off to jail. But the DA was so outraged by the lack of conscience of those watching, including not reporting the crime, that he is probably going to bring a landmark case of accessory both before and after the fact for all the people who recorded, distributed and commented on the crime and did not take any action to help the police in bringing the criminals to justice. This will mark the beginning of social media laws forcing people without the good sense to know what to do to perhaps learn by their mistakes on what is the 'right' thing to do. It would help if the parents did a little 'at home Sundays' and teach their kids how to use the social media as well. Or bring the parents up on charges of failure to educate. Just sayin' - yer pal

Deludia : Paving the way

Yes, like care-giving, it is a whole lot bigger game than it appears to be on the surface. I think you and your wife made an admirable offer, but clearly the woman was unable to see how she might re-align herself to improve her overall situation with your offer. Perhaps her son will remember 'the kindness of strangers' down the road and put that experience to better use in his life. My care-giving experience was, as soon as I was moved in (less than three days) a horror show. The client was demanding, selfish, insensitive and a rage-aholic of epic proportions. He forgot that he hired someone who was going for training, not an experienced care-giver, and was unrelenting in his criticism of me and my performance. He accused me of stealing, and when the money was found at home where he left it, he said, "Well, you could have done it." I went to my pastor in tears, and his advice was for me to get out as soon as reasonably possible, and if I thought I was in danger, to make it even sooner. Fortunately I wasn't in danger, but it was very clear that the work / roommate arrangement was untenable. And, curiously, as soon as I announced my unwillingness to continue in his employment, after an outrageous display of anger, he has quieted down and things have been more manageable - for now. But this experience has soured me on being a care-giver - for good. A friend is working for a woman who suddenly turned from a sweet little old lady into a harridan trying to kidnap my friend and keep her isolated and so it hasn't taken much convincing for me to rethink any kind of career that entails dealing with potentially emotionally unstable individuals. So it seems to be with 'Theresa" - that she does not have a good grip on reality, is unwilling to listen to saner and more savvy folks, and certainly doesn't seem to have a learning curve that allows for piling on past experiences as part of the foundation. Just figger that if there is an AfterLife where Good Deeds are considered as part of the Redemption Package that you will have some credits... yer pal

Richard McColl : Trying Ayahuasca or Yage: the Hallucinogenic Brew from the Amazon

The Yage is not to be taken lightly, and according to most shamans, women should not take it at all. I did it twice several years ago in Colombia and will NEVER do it again. In fact, in one of my visions the second time I was warned that I should not do it ever again. I don't need convincing. There are too many people thinking this is like LSD or marijuana trips, but it far exceeds those experiences and I truly thought I was going to die the first time. Later, after the second phase kicked in, I wished I had. The second imbibing was milder and I have been told since then that the shaman can alter the combinations for this purpose. But if you don't know the shaman or his true experience with the 'herbs' you can get a killer dose and if the shaman is inexperienced, he will not know how to bring you around. I highly recommend staying away from ayahuasca, yaje, yage, or even smoking herbs unless you are with people who know the shaman's history and experience - and even then, it could be a crap shoot. (pun intended)
