Cohen - twas a good book, but like most of it's kind, it could have been half as long to make this simple point.

Mr Business Golf / Will Golf Change?

josh - Mr. BG, Good post and I agree with you. When I think of the golf industry as a whole, I think of two words: bloated and conservative. Bloated in that there are too many courses for the current golfing demand, too many golf clubs, golf swing doodads, etcs. There will be a lot of restructuring, downsizing, and market "corrections" to realign supply with demand. I use the word conservative in the business sense, not political. Old marketing tactics are no longer giving the ROI the might have once given. There are certainly opportunities abounding for people with good ideas as the old companies meet new challenges aspiring entrepreneurs can capitalize on.

Jon Fox / The Year of Extremes

David G. Cohen - Jon - I lost my dad just before my first big success as an entrepreneur. I always wished he could have seen what I was able to accomplish. I always looked up to him as an entrepreneur and it would have been great to let him see some of the stuff I did as one too. I know it's not been easy, but you've done an amazing job in 2008 (which I'm sure will continue in 2009 and beyond), and I'm sure your dad would be proud.

Feld Thoughts / The Dynamics of Full Disclosure

David G. Cohen - A while back (before my blog situation changed), I struggled with this to and at some point decided to invest 100% of the money I made from my blog in kiva loans. for me, the central issue was not "making money" it was "not leaving money on the table." For a blog like yours, not taking referral commissions is simply leaving real money on the table. seems dumb. so that's really why most people do it. Putting it towards something like Kiva makes my world feel more right. it's clear that i'm not doing it for the money, but rather for the greater good. people dig that. ;-) of course, they have to trust me that i actually use it towards kiva loans (which i do).
