IntenseDebate Blog / IntenseDebate is Back!

josh - Hi Donnacha, All good points. Im am sure the ID guys are listening. One thing I would add is that it isn't good for anyone if someone just comments for a link. There has to be a way to balance inspiring good comments and discouraging commenting just for the link. Again, all good point. I think you will see ID continue to experiment with different interfaces. The publisher has quite a bit of control over how things are displayed on their site, so maybe your suggestion could be made into an option for the blog publisher in the future. Cheers!

IntenseDebate Blog / IntenseDebate is Back!

josh - Actually, a link to your blog is found on your profile page. A link to your blog is also found when hovering over your avatar. The profile page also houses a link to your blog's rss feed and your blog, all the social media accounts you want to put in... and all the other comments you make across the ID ecosystem. By having an account, people can easily follow you and your comments...all leading to more traffic directed at your blog, more notoriety for you, and an overall better commenting atmosphere. Having ID installed on your site also leads to more pageviews of your blog as people have more conversations on YOUR site, not friendfeed, not twitter, not IM. The conversation ought to stay where it begins and you, the blogger, are the benefactor.

http://www.jeffnolan.com/blog/ / 11 Million Percent Inflation

Zoli Erdos - Oh, I can relax, Hungary still holds the (sad) world record with the 1946 inflation rate of 41,900,000,000,000,000% (4.19 × 1016%). I can’t even read out such a large number... and oh, it's *monthly*, not annual. http://www.zoliblog.com/2008/06/05/zimbabwe-going...

Startup Weekend / My 2008 Colorado Voter Notes

josh - Hi Andrew, hope you are doing well. Not sure if you wanted to start a debate on your positions, but amendment 47 effects a lot of people. For instance, my mother is a teacher (and happens to be a conservative republican). She is forced to join a labor union and spend $500 per year on dues. She has no choice. The dues seem to go toward incredibly partisan attacks against the politics my mother supports. She is disgusted that her money is spent in such a way, yet she has no ability to change it. To me this isn't a divisive issue, it is about allowing for choice and not prohibiting it. The workers not only gain more freedom by being empowered with choice, but they can also reclaim their money and do what they will with it. So, to sum it up, there is tremendous value at stake for workers and it should not be a divisive issue at all. If you want to be part of a union, so be it. If not, you should not be forced to join one.
