The curious problem of the 00s is that the technology that has allowed this unique conflict of the individual and the institution has advanced faster than any of us are able to process or navigate.

I also like the daily blogging. I am waiting for you to move to LA and then give us a report on LA vs. the Northeast vs. the South in ten years from now... ;o) p.s. I don't believe that living one town south of Long Beach qualifies me to any claims whatsoever about anything. And I think of LB as the town of Ikey Owens and Dennis Owens more than the town of Snoop Dog.

Public Enemy is from Hempstead (my hometown) and Roosevelt if I'm not mistaken. Leaders of the New School and Busta Rhymes are from Uniondale (and went to my high school). Rakim is from Wyandanch. De La Soul is from Amityville. EPMD is from Brentwood. And yes, Keith "Most Beautifulest Thing" Murray. Oh, and I wouldn't be a proper Strong Islander if I didn't mention WBAU, the Adelphi University college station that broke about a half-dozen hip-hop acts.

smith - Review: The online mind map smackdown

During the last year and a half, a number of web-based tools for mind mapping have evolved quickly into competent business applications. Several of them are now approaching the functionality of desktop mind mapping software.

I’ve been planning to create a comparison chart that details how the offerings of each of the major developers of web-based mind mapping software tools compare, but just couldn’t seem to get around to it – until recently. During a recent web search, I came across a chart produced by blogger Tiffany Brown for business cards that compared MindMeister, Mindomo, Mind42 and Comapping, and provided brief reviews of each of the programs. It was dated July 2007 – almost a year old, an eternity in Web 2.0 terms – and so I contacted Tiffany to see if I could use her chart as a jumping off point to an up-to-date comparison. She said yes!

I first made a detailed set of features and performance criteria, drawn from a similar chart that I offer for desktop-based mind mapping software, and added in other capabilities that are unique to these web-based tools. I then sent the form to each developer, asking them to fill in the required data. Finally, I compiled their answers into a detailed side-by-side comparison chart, which is now available for you to download.

When I reach that point, I take a break and do something away from the keyboard. Even if I think of a fix for my coding issue, I don't go to the keyboard, I write it out and make a note to apply it tomorrow.

As an avid gamer, I've noticed the tension build during certain games as I lean into the action, however, I also use a blackberry as my primary email device, so I would say it's more of a computer-users apnea than a specific activity apnea. I would however agree that more care needs to be taken with the users health, don't ignore your bodies urges to stretch and look around. Our bodies do send us messages, we just have to learn to pay better attention to them.

As the owner of an internet company, I can relate to this. My chiropractor gave me this advice which works remarkably well: It's the 20/20/20 rule. Every 20 minutes back away from your computer. Look 20 feet away for 20 seconds and take slow deep breaths in and out. It really helps! I also find that limiting my email checks to 2-3 times a day maintains my focus and improves productivity. And the standing computer station? Great idea. They do exist and definitely better on the back. Thanks again for the great info! Looking back to see the impact of several generational events that have become as traumatic as nuclear war upon our generation as well as that of the previous 2-3 generations before us cannot be taken lightly. I noticed that delaying or denying my creativity points me south in horrible ways. There was one year probably 4 to 5 years ago where I was on an involuntary fast and did not realize it for the entire year. Now that I am creating multimedia and composing music, I've been able to lose weight like they were inversely connected. Best wishes to you and I hope that you find peace and happiness as God desires for you!
