However, some say that you should disconnect your battery when using your laptop for an extended period of time and rely instead on a UPS. The point is to try to save the laptop battery (which is more important and more expensive) and rely instead on the UPS which is more resilient and cheaper.  Personally, I use a UPS. So I went out and got a back up system and tried to be prepared if it happens again.
